We’d like to welcome Matt Cohn to West Dundee Hockey Club as he enters his first season of coaching the at the Midget Major and Bantam Major levels. While Matt is new to the Leafs coaching lineup, he is no stranger to the Club, as he has been a skills coach for the program for the last several seasons.

Cohn is a level 4 USA Hockey Certified coach entering his sixth season of coaching and continues to establish himself as a high-level coach working within the Tier I AAA/AA levels, along with the Iowa State University Hockey Program (Consultant/Scout), USA Hockey (Central District Coach/Scout), AHAI (Player Development Evaluator), CANAM Hockey Schools, and D2D Hockey Camps. Previously, Cohn coached five seasons at the AAA level in the High-Performance Hockey League where his teams earned two Illinois State Championship Runner-Up banners. He coached two seasons with the Chicago Young Americans at the highly competitive U-16 Midget Minor level and three seasons with Team Illinois Hockey Club at both the Bantam Major and Minor levels.

In addition to his coaching, Matt served as the head strength and conditioning coach for both CYA and TI Midget programs. Matt grew up in Hampshire, IL with his parents, sister, and brother where he played his youth and Jr. hockey in the Chicagoland area before heading off to play Division I for University of Central Oklahoma in the ACHA. He then transferred to ACHA powerhouse Iowa State University for his senior season. After four standout collegiate seasons, and following graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management in 2011, Matt played two years professionally in the Federal Hockey League, Southern Professional Hockey League, and the Central Hockey League. Matt currently resides in Gilberts, IL with his wife, Colleen, and is utilizing his business degree he earned from Iowa State in the greater Chicagoland area.
